"The world would be a much safer place should all the people embrace the idea of One Day of Peace and Sharing."

-Dr. Davorin Kracun, Ambassador of Slovenia, December 2002

On January 1st, 2003, hosted by Congressional sponsors, Global Mothers and the District of Columbia, representatives of many nations gathered with their children for the first 'Global Family Potluck' to celebrate OneDay2003 (Click here to see photos). Speakers from nations as diverse as China, Turkey, Indonesia, Bulgaria, Japan, Bahrain, and Vietnam agreed that a unifying tradition for the whole human family is urgently needed. More than fifty nations have so far added their expressions of support. Plans are presently underway to implement a public awareness program culminating in a worldwide celebration and broadcast on January 1, 2004 and every year thereafter.

The holiday has already been passed in the U.S. Congress and the U.N. General Assembly and has a wide variety of supporters, including:

So who else do we need? We need YOU! (Click here to contribute, to volunteer and to spread the word.)

Let's celebrate life on earth TOGETHER. As we prepare for the celebration each year we will actually create patterns that can lead to peace. We invite you to send us your ideas - your visions for a future world of peace and sharing. Let's make lunch, not war!

John Conyers, Jr., and Linda Grover, co-founders of OneDay

Let's make lunch, not war.

"We will not learn to live together in peace by killing each other's children." President Jimmy Carter, December 10, 2002.
